Parents & Relationships

My in laws were convinced I was not the right choice for my now wife of 26 years. They knew just how to make my life hell as well. You can just imagine the arguments and fights I had with my girlfriend back in the beginning when I was going out with her; always about her parents. My answer always was It is you I am going to marry not them’. Fortunately my own parents loved my wife and unlike my in-laws said we were a great match! After being married for a few years my in laws became my greatest friends. Parents and your relationships can be a sticky issue or you can be lucky and be accepted first time around!

What do parents want?

Every parent wants what is best for their children. When it comes to parents and your relationships, then there can be a lot of conflict if they do not approve of your boyfriend or girlfriend. What happens is that it puts strain on your relationship with your partner, and your relationship with your parents as well at the same time. If you get married defiantly, and your in laws still do not approve of you, then you can be in for a rocky ride, which will also be a true test of the love you have for each other. Parents may not approve of your partner because of the background they come from, their career choices, their financial situation, or their education and that is just a start. Sometimes no one will be good enough, even if you think they are a perfect match for you, they are not going to admit it! Naturally, everyone will prefer to have their parents blessing on their relationship otherwise there will always seem to be something missing. Get parents to understand that you are mature enough to make the right choices.

Work on the points that your parents do not agree on.

The first thing that needs to be done for satisfying parents and your relationship with your partner, is to see what the problems are that you parents have with your partner or what your future in laws have against you?. There can be small disagreements that can easily be sorted out with some compromise and discussion. For example; perhaps they do not approve of your partners appearance, or manners and you can definitely sort out these areas by discussing what can be done with your partner. If your partner really loves you, then they are sure to be willing enough to understand. Open communication is bets in parents and relationships with everyone concerned

Learn more about your future in laws

Getting your partners parents to accept you, means also finding out their likes and dislikes. When you know what these are, then you can start pushing all the right buttons. If the parents have a problem about your career path, ask them why. Perhaps they may not really understand what it is about, or it could be about whether you are going to be able to support your own family properly. Find a bit about the parents own life experiences because this way you can see where you can relate to them with your own. Learn about parents and their relationships too!

Discuss parents’ fears with them about your relationship

You can perhaps explain more about your career with them, and tell them where you see yourself in the future. Should they be worried about your background then make them understand that you are a unique individual, and should not be typecast in the way they may be seeing you. Ask the parents straight up why they do not approve of you. Maybe it is a huge misunderstanding or something pretty small that you can do about getting their approval. If they are going to be your future in laws then the sooner you do something the better! Parents and your relationships can be a minefield so tread lightly and try and get everything right so that you can get their blessings and trust!

Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back!!

Most advice on the internet is dedicated to helping guys get their ex girlfriends back, with little advice on how to get an ex boyfriend back. If your boyfriend has broken up with you, then you can be devastated because you love him so much. The pain of heartbreak is very rea,l and you find yourself bursting into tears every time something reminds you of him. You are wondering why he broke up with you the entire time as well. Was it something you said, or did, that caused him saying the worst words you ever wanted to hear? Its over!! Fortunately, love cannot be turned off like a switch and he will also be wondering if it was a mistake breaking up with you. Even if he realizes that now, he is going to have too much pride to do damage control so it is up to you to figure how to get your ex boyfriend back!

First things First, Pull yourself together and collect your thoughts

Avoid the same mistake when you want to get your ex boyfriend back which many guys also make; that is running after him and sounding desperate and needy to get him back. Men consider this high maintenance, and perhaps he already dumped you because you were continually nagging about commitment. Guys want to take it slow but sure on this aspect in relationships, and pressure over this can really cause relationships to come apart. Being desperate and needy can also make a guy feel smothered and pressured, because guys want to be completely at ease before total commitment is considered. Chasing after your ex boyfriend by texting him too much, emailing, and calling him every five minutes, will make your ex boyfriend see that you're out of control and as a result you can drive him even further away. If you are doing this in desperation, you need to stop. Start by being mature and gathered. You know you are special and you are going to show him you are!

Show him that you are over him!

By avoiding contact with your boyfriend for a while will show him that you have pride in yourself, and you are not just sitting in a tearful heap waiting for his call. Go out with some of your friends to socialize, and even arrange a casual date that you know he is going to find out about. He will feel that someone is on his turf, and it is going to irritate the daylights out of him when he does. This step has worked wonders in rescuing many relationships, but it needs be planned very carefully. After a while you can send him a text message to ask how things are and if he would like to hang out together as friends to see if he takes the bait. After you have shown him that you are out and about, and that you've got your life back together he is definitely going to take notice.

Look your best and dress to kill

Take pride in your appearance and sport a new look. When you go out dress to kill especially when you know he may be around. This will also boost your self confidence and you will feel great and desirable. If he is not around to see you, then his friends may be there and they will definitely be putting a word in his ear which will make him start wondering. Making up is a process that needs to be followed very carefully and sometimes it is well worth investing in professional advice for making up. Your relationship is certainly worth it!

Arguing In Relationships

At some time or another you are going to get in to an argument with your partner, and the disagreement can be either a small or complicated issue. The real purpose of arguing in relationships is to come to an agreement or compromise. Unfortunately when one of you does not budge on an issue, it can cause problems in your relationship that can spiral out of control! Arguing in relationships is a form of communication, to address problems; and the argument should come to an end after a mutual agreement is reached. Here are some tips to take into consideration when arguments arise in relationships which will keep them real, and trust me at some time or another they are going to come in handy. Never let an argument become so serious that your relationship is in jeopardy because of it.

Some causes of arguments in relationships

Arguments arise when a partner feels wronged in a relationship, or there is a problem with your partner that you need to bring out in the open and address. Naturally there are thousands of reasons along these lines, but some of the most common arguments that start in relationships are money related, from jealousy, resentment about something a partner does or does not do, or career related. Consider these points when you have an argument:

Do not change the subject you are arguing about, and Argue in the present.

When you are having an argument with your partner, try and resolve the argument by sticking to the subject or problem you are arguing about. Use facts that are relevant and be as practical as possible to solve what you are arguing about. Avoid digging up the past in an argument, and then using it as a weapon against your partner. Digging up old hurts can turn the smallest argument into a huge one this way. Another thing to avoid is insulting your partner or swearing at them, because this can really hurt your partner deeply and shows lack of respect; and should you do this, it can even end up in relationship termination. Stay within the parameters of self respect, to stop an argument escalating into a full blown war.

Allow your partner their chance to state their viewpoint.

An important part to the science of arguing in relationships is to listen to what your partner wants to say. They also have a view point on the issue you are arguing about, so give them a chance. If you are not sure what you partner is trying to say or get across to you, then say something like: ‘So I understand that you are trying to say that’… to get clarification. During an argument a person tends to not listen to the other properly because they are too busy formulating their rebuff while the other person is talking; or they may be thinking on what ammunition they are going to use in retaliation. Along these lines, some self control is pertinent, and that means trying not to scream and shout at each other. Turning your back on an argument as well is even worse and can add even more fuel to the fire. Finish the argument with your partner, and try to always avoid going to bed angry with each other.

Do not use Physical abuse; or Make threats To Do So in An Argument.

Avoid becoming physical in an argument and this includes throwing things at your partner. Later when you have both cooled off, these items you have broken will need to be replaced or repaired. If you feel you are reaching boiling points you can say you need time out to think about what your partner and you are arguing about. Your fury can become an out of control animal otherwise; and you can do something you regret later. If you are in a stormy relationship where you argue a lot seek guides on how to handle your issues properly especially if you really love someone. It is not necessary to let an argument mean the end of any relationship!
